The Wandering Piano
The Wandering Piano
One of my favorite things to run across in the wild is a good street pianist. There is something about the way he or she is able to captivate a random audience to make them stand still for a short moment of time, admiring the talent transferring from their fingertips to the piano keys. I think it intrigues me so much because I know ill never reach the skill level or have the confidence to sit down and play like that myself. And here they are, making it look so easy.
This particular piano has traveled around the streets of Augusta and often lands at different places. Over the years I have seen it here and there but rarely see anyone playing it to any great extent. It might be completely out of tune. But none-the-less, It remains fairly untouched.
I long for a day when my city of Augusta is bursting with a little more life. I do believe we are making great strides to make our downtown area alive and beautiful again, but I know that we have a long way to go. Until then, I’ll keep taking pictures of this piano wherever it might land, maybe next time I write about it, there will be a young boy or girl playing at it while by passers stop and listen for a moment. I don’t think it will be too long.
